(1. It has PERFECT weather!

(2. Wave sizes vary at every spot

(3 Plenty of surfshops with instructors and spot information

(4 The cheap part could be a problem because airfare is super expensive

If you wanna try further afield, give New Zealand a go. April is the first month of Autumn, so the mornings can be a little cool, but the rest of the day is usually warm. Base yourself in Raglan. Very laid back and you are right next to 2 world class left-handers. If the West Coast is flat, drive 2 hours to the East Coast. $NZ1 = $US0.67. Beers cost about $NZ4 a pint, gas about $NZ1.42 litre, backpackers $NZ15-20 per night.
