Re:HELP ME - 2008/01/09 12:15 theres alot of advice thats good and The best tips so far were from Jenko ... you have to have paddling strength, as he said even paddling around a pool or using a kayak or canoe will help with your paddling... You have to learn to stand up very quickly ... At the surf schools they make ppl practice standing up as fast as they can on the beach before they try it in the water, You have to work out whether your goofy or natural, if you snow board you should already know which foot you will have as your front foot. Your better off starting in smaller surf from 1-2ft than trying bigger surf, so if there is big surf just stay inside and practice on the reforms, once your paddling and catching the wave and standing up then you will start to get the feel of turning, there is a similariy with snowboarding but you dont need to put so much twist in ...

Re:HELP ME - 2008/01/09 12:15 though if it were me i would be taking a holiday somewhere warm with waves with some friends and get a lesson or 2 then go for it, some people get it after a few days & some take a few different attempts, just stick at it and you will never regret it...
