TRIPLE X EPOXY SURFBOARDS - 2008/07/16 04:40 Think I have already screwed-up even before I have hit the water for the first time. Just got back from the beach last week where my 15-year old son ( 5'.5", 125 pounds) and I (5'.6", 150 pounds) had a great time riding some small waves using our fins, and bodyboards. Spent some time down at the pier watching some guys catching the same small waves with longboards, so we decided to pick-up a couple. Spent the last week looking all over the internet, no surf shop here in New Orleans. Anyway, found an ad on ebay for a couple of boards from an outfit called East Coast Surf Supply, selling what we were looking for, two 8'6" Epoxy Mini Longboards. The ad had a (Best Offer Feature) so I punch in $250 each, on the boards that where listed as buy now for $350. To my surprise the merchant accepted the offer on the boards, and there now sitting in my front room.

The ad reads as follows.

"YOU ARE BUYING A BRAND NEW TRIPLE X PREMIUM GRADE EPOXY TECHNOLOGY MINI LONGBOARD.
ALL OUR EPOXY BOARDS ARE HAND SHAPED AND MADE WITH THE FINEST GRADE MATERIALS. WE USE 2 LAYERS OF 6 OZ. CLOTH AND HIGH QUALITY EPOXY RESIN THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS. THIS RESULTS IN A BOARD THAT HAS A BEAUTIFUL HIGH GLOSS FINISH THAT IS INCREDIBLY STRONG. MUCH STRONGER THAN TRADITIONAL FIBERGLASS AND RESISTS DINGS MUCH BETTER."

BRAND NEW EPOXY TECHNOLOGY
FCS STYLE REMOVABLE SIDE FINS
CENTER ADJUSTABLE 8 INCH BOX FIN
COMES WITH 3 FINS SHOWN AND A FIN WRENCH
BEAUTIFUL HIGH GLOSS FINISH
LENGTH 8' 6"
WIDTH 22 3/4"
THICKNESS 2 3/4"

Ok, the boards arrived today with China printed on the box. Don't think they hand shape a whole lot of boards in China, hope I'm wrong. Also can't seem to find anything about these boards on the internet. Anyone heard of these? I'm tempted to send them back, but would have to eat $100 bucks shipping on each board!!! Thanks in advance for ANY info.

Re:TRIPLE X EPOXY SURFBOARDS - 2008/07/17 18:27 yea, post some pics. In any case, $250 per board doesn't sound bad at all. Saw some epoxy boards in europe for over 500 Euros. Ouch!

If you are learning, whether they are 'hand shaped' or not won't make any difference to you. A standard pop out should be fine for learning on. Probably feels bad to have been 'misled' by the blurb: but take an objective view of the boards value/price.

Re:TRIPLE X EPOXY SURFBOARDS - 2008/07/17 19:38 defcon4 is right. The price is ok if the boards fit for You. Should say: For 350$US the deal is not bad if You compare prices around the world. A new handshaped 8.x board will not go under 450-500 Bucks so it's rather sure You got a serial made stick.
Catch a wave!

Re:TRIPLE X EPOXY SURFBOARDS - 2008/07/26 04:27 I was actually looking at a Triple X 6'3" squash tail that they had listed. I can't go too high quality and need something durable since I work in Africa and it gets shipped on a container. This looked like a good affordable option if I can't find anything else. Let me know how the board performs for you. Hope you don't feel too ripped off.
