Surfing and staying in Canary Islands - 2007/10/14 01:37I would like to go surfing in Canary Islands during next July and August (2007). I've never been there before and I would like to know if the surf is good during these months and also what island is the best for surfing. I'm not a very good surfer, but I love it! I prefer sand break because I don't want to break my neck on rocks!
Could someone also tell me if it's expansive to live there for two months (food, lodging...)
Thank you very much!!

Re:Surfing and staying in Canary Islands - 2007/10/14 08:30I fear You have to hurry up a bit to catch the last waves of august 2007 ! Typing errors are common in our computerized world. To get to the core of the matter, july and august are the (normally) worst time of the year to surf the canaries. Not only due to lack of swells, it's also the peak season for european tourists. Summer holidays at Sweden, Great Britain, Netherlands, Germany and so on flushes thousands and thousands of bloody landsmen over the islands, all prices climb, beaches and acommodations are packed. If You like party, go! If You like surf, better come from october to march. You may get more rain then, but the swell is more consistent. The north-west shores of Teneriffa and Fuerteventura are very popular, "Fuerte" has more sandy beaches.

Re:Surfing and staying in Canary Islands - 2007/10/14 08:30I forgot: All other canary islands also provide surfable breaks, so it would be a good idea to visit several destinations.

I don't like when the beaches are packed with tourists so I'll try to find another moment I can get there.
