Re:surfing in the gambia? - 2008/10/27 19:11 By the time you get here the surf should be rocking as that is prime time over here.

I was not complaining about your comment. Just giving you a little local colour so to speak.

As I said, a couple of board waxes would be cool.

Re:surfing in the gambia? - 2008/10/27 19:15 Great!

I'll be sure to bring some extra wax.

Really looking forward to the trip now. I haven't been in the water since summer.

Take care!

Hi Tunks,
I am comming to Gambia in a week now. If there is anything surf-related that you need I could purchase it for you in Sweden and bring it...
How is it going with those photos? Has there been any surf lately?
Do you know anything about the northmost cape, south of the river, west of banjoul (See attached satellite map)?

How come you live in Gambia?
Lots of questions... =9

Hi,

If you could bring me some board wax I'd buy you a large beer

Surf is gradually picking up but nothing to shout about yet. That place is called Cape Point and it gets some nice offshore waves when a big swell hits. Most of the waves are concentrated on the main beach areas near the big hotels.

I was born and bred in London but my old man is from here. I moved here in 2001.

I'll pm you my number and you can be the second surfer I have met from Wannasurf.

Cheers

Edit: I usually get the forecasts from http://magicseaweed.com/Dakar-Surf-Report/645/

It gives a good indication of what to expect here.

Post edited by: Tunks, at: 2008/10/27 19:02

Cool, but then I should not expect surf at cape point at this time? I will stay there with gf and gfs family, so I think I should stick around that area - are there any spots that work even with small swells?
Ill be happy to trade wax for beer!

Tunks, do you know some good places where 5 guys can stay on a budget in The Gambia? We only need beds and roof over our head, so fancy hotels are not an option. What matters is the price. Simple apartmenst would be nice.

Hope you have some tips, and thanks a lot!

Re:surfing in the gambia? - 2008/11/09 00:08 We also have a car, so it is not necessary to be within walking-distance of any surf.
