Re:West Java - 2008/03/07 23:54 Hi Bish,
I can't tell you what is the best deal from Jakarta to Pelabuhan Ratu, but I can tell you what is the worst.
With friends of mine, after a night trip from Sumatra, we have been dropped in the Jakarta Bus station, then we headed straight into the first bus to Sukabumi. It was empty and we had been told it was leaving soon. But what we didn't know was that it was an economic class bus. Indeed the bust left soon, but it went very slowly (I would say 2 miles an hour) all along the highway and all around the town, waiting for people to get in, until it got full. Since we were the first in the bus, that took us 3 hours to really leave Jakarta, more than the real time to Sukabumi. We didn't even go to Sukabumi, we jumped off the bus earlier, to catch a bémo to Pelabuhan Ratu.
Actually, we were exhausted, and fed up with all the sellers that went in and out of the bus (selling peanuts, fried bananas but also crocodile Dundee style knives, even a karaoke singer came in). But now, this story is a really good souvenir for us
All this story just to say "Dont take the economic class bus, except if it is almost full".
Concerning accomodations, you will find anything you need for all the prices in Cimaja. But Cimaja is full of hasslers that don't let you alone until you go with them (they even made us miss a good session, only because we did not want to deal the bemo with them). And waves are crowded too. Didn't go to turtles : quite far from Cimaja without a car and not working.

PS: I suppose this answer comes too late for you, hope it will help someone else. Let us know your experience please, since I'll maybe go back there.

Re:West Java - 2008/03/11 02:03 anyone who is going to west-java, just send me private-message. i live in jakarta, usually go to cimaja (pelabuhan ratu) in weekends by car (have to work on weekdays). i'm a total beginner, so i practice at 'karang papak' beach break, 2 km away from cimaja beach.
who knows we have the same schedule, we can go together.

cimaja beach waves are great on summer, but yes, can get very crowded.

turtles is in ujung-genteng area, different direction from cimaja.

cheers!
