i'm planning to surf in september, but i don't really know where to go. i'm from switzerland an so quite a beginner, was surfing for one year around bordeaux, now i really wanna continue and learn it properly.
what is better for me, bali or costa rica? or anything else? not too difficult? any easy breaks?
thanks in advance

Re:bali vs costa rica - 2007/07/30 18:26hi there,
well, i think...costa rica got more suitable waves for beginners. keep bali for later, too many good waves that you´ll only be watching if you are not too confident with a quick drop-in on a shallow reef...

Re:bali vs costa rica - 2007/08/09 21:02hopefully heading to CR this winter, it looks to be the better of the 2 from what i have read for beginners. the main attraction of bali is for the world class reef waves it offers - altho as mentioned it does have beginner waves too

Re:bali vs costa rica - 2007/08/11 00:20Costa is definitely better for beginners. even though it is the rainy season you will still find waves, and it is no problem getting to places like tamrindo Playa Hermosa. It would be difficult to go further south like to Nosara, but just be sure to rent a 4 X 4 when you get there and you should be ok. Bali still has some issues with terrorists and the reefs are not gentle to your skin. Go with CR.
