is it so difficult to get a board in Namibia? - 2007/07/18 16:00I'm trying to get a board in namibia but it seems more difficult than ever... I looked for a board on the net and got in touch with some people but nobody could help me. It seems that there aren't surf shops in namibia... is it possible? or it is a kind of countermeasure against foreign surfer? mah? Do I have to go first to Cape Town?

Now remember he's SAF so there is a bias immediately.

Re:is it so difficult to get a board in Namibia? - 2007/07/22 04:31I think your friend is right, without any need for bias... there are very few surfers in namibia, and just not enough to support a local shop... so probably best to buy in SA (spider murphy in Durban makes great boards ) no idea if its any hassle to get boards into Namibia though. If you do get a new board, wax it up at the shop befor packing it for travel, if the customs get difficult you can 'prove' its a used item, and avoid problems involved in "importing merchandise" (this help big time once going into Angola...) Having said tham namibia is much more 'reasonable' (read developed, civilised) than Angola... In the past SA Airlines would always carry 'sporting equipment' for free; probably no longer true.
