driving to CR - 2007/07/08 08:53I am planning to drive from CA to Costa Rica this fall. Anyone have any experience or tips. There is no time constraints for the drive. Looking to camp and surf my way down. Thanks in advance.

Re:driving to CR - 2007/07/12 04:29A buddy of mine and his wife rode dual sport motorcycles to South America and back about two years ago and had the time of their life. I questioned safety and he said it's fine just do your research and don't be stupid. Have fun, I'm envious of your planned trip.

Re:driving to CR - 2007/07/12 06:47I have done quite of bit of research, so i can't wait to leave. I was hoping somenone might have some suggestions on cool beach or historical towns along the way that they have visited. My wife and I have mapped out most of the trip already, but I am always looking for more info.

Re:driving to CR - 2007/07/12 08:19Where are you traveling from? Tons of epic spots in Costa Rica, Guatamala and Nica. If you are a goofy footer you just might not make it past Nica. I've been to Costa 5 times and I can tell you that Tamrindo is not the best scene anymore and the only good wave around there is Playa grande. Playa Negra is one of the best rt points around and if you have a chance to take a boat to oliies its worth the price. If you will be travelling the west coast of mexico there are tons of spots, just look on this site. One word...Oaxaca!

Re:driving to CR - 2007/07/12 10:19Driving from Southern California along the Pacific side of Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and finally Costa Rica. We have been to CR quite a few times ourselves. Heard great things about Nicaragua surf, but some bad stories about the local scene around certain areas. Never spent time in northern CR, only central and southern parts.
