Portugal - beginner waves? - 2007/05/30 00:21 Hi!

Me and a couple of mates are plannning on surfing Europe for a week or two this summer, and were thinking Portugal. One of us have hardly touched a surfboard before (he has been snowboarding for ages tho), and I am not very good myself either. Therefore we need someplace to go where there are both learning waves and easy waves for those of us who have surfed earlier, but who are not good enough to go really big. Any suggestions? I heard there was waves all along the coast from far south to far north.

Would be great if anyone know somewhere we can rent a decent 7'4 or 7'6 board as well, since some of us probably wont bring our own.

Thanks a lot.

Re:Portugal - beginner waves? - 2007/05/30 01:04 Hi,

Check out this guys:

www.penichesurfcamp.com

I'm a friend of the surfcamp's owner.

They run a pretty cool operation there.

Great surfing spirit, good waves for all levels, Peniche is a great place.

Have fun

Re:Portugal - beginner waves? - 2007/05/30 01:14 Looks good, but I heard the area around Lisbon is extremely crowded? We are probably going in the middle of july or beginning of august.

Re:Portugal - beginner waves? - 2007/06/14 00:06 Peniche is good to start and improve, good schools and waves. Alentejo is less crowded, but can be more complicated to rent boards and to learn. But if you decide to stay here for 2 weeks, in the first have some classes and in the second, rent a car and go along the coast or just go to other place, if you want to.
