Re:Lanzarote in october - 2007/06/13 00:20 I know somethings about Lanzarote (one of my brothers lives there since many years ago ). So, the only tihng is that is better always to look for the place where the wind is correct. If the wind is NE to E, go to La Santa zone. If it is from the N to W go to Jameos del Agua and Punta Mujeres zone. If the wind is from the S or something similar, go to Famara. There are waves in ALL the coast of the island, you must look for them just tihnking about the wind. The locals can be a problem if you are a problem (in several spots they are a problem always but you know... you will be as "kind" with them when they go to your home as they were with you when you went to their home, hehe!). The hard local spots are La Santa Left and, El Quemao and Punta Mujeres, the rest of spots are more relaxed (but be kind with people and you asure yourself that you will get tons of waves with no problem).

Re:Lanzarote in october - 2007/06/13 19:27 Hiya nalusteve,

I've been to Lanza quite a lot of times...this is one of my favorite surf destinations. October is one of the best seasons on the island!
Everythin Paulov wrote about the spots are true and correct...

Locals can be of a really big problem there only if you behave in inappropriate way w/them...Be nice, do good when you're surfing....show them you can surf not worse then they and You'll be fine )) After a good session share some beer with your new friends and they'll treat you w/ respect ))

for the first time I would also suggest you to go w/ some local guy...who'll explain you local rules.

Would be also nicwe if you could learn couple of spanish words...they like when people try speak spanish to them )

I think the best place to stay is Famara (caleta de Famara)...They have really good spot there (San Juan) , however it doesn't work regularly...But you can always travel to La Santa, Moronegro...and other places (which Paulove already named)..evrything is quite close to the village (15-20 minutes by car). and Famara is just great itself...really good people there!

You're welcome to pm me if any further info required ))

Cheers man...

Re:Lanzarote in october - 2007/06/13 20:54 I agree completely with Vita, My brother have been living in Famara for many years and it is a magic place and San Juan is one of the best waves of the island (Tom Curren use to surf it if it breaks). There are more waves in La Santa, but Famara is more relaxed and more beautiful.
