No way. - 2007/05/31 02:44 You're kidding, right? There's no way a log is going to have any effect on a beachbreak unless the surf is 2" high and the log is 1" below the water, or the log is a giant redwood the size of a train engine.

Even Chevron Reef, made up of hundreds of giant sandbags, is a joke. If anything, it breaks WORSE than the surrounding sandbars.

Neat story, I guess, but totally unbelievable. Does The Surf Guru have 10' tides in his area of the sunshine coast? Because that wave looks to be breaking in about 7' of water or deeper.

Re:No way. - 2007/05/31 17:32 The log itself probably wouldn't help create a wave, but it might act as a seed point around which sand could build up... thus creating a semi-permenant sand-bar (until the next big storm). Dunno - just speculating.
