Re:TROPICSURF OFFICIAL PUBLIC RESPONSE - 2007/03/19 10:28why does ross use "tropicsurf@gmail.com" instead of the official tropicsurf.net address in his blog posting.

Re:TROPICSURF OFFICIAL PUBLIC RESPONSE - 2007/03/19 12:42i was on the 'blue lagoon' outer atolls maldives in aug 06. 10 out of 10 customers complained and got ignored. there seems to be another group from France and one doctor from HK that have seperate issues about TS.

Re:TROPICSURF OFFICIAL PUBLIC RESPONSE - 2007/03/19 15:14Well Zip, looks like the guy finally spoke. Maybe you guys should hash it out over the phone? Just a thought. My heart goes out to you and your crew about getting skunked and less than perfect service. No one deserves that and I would imagine at the very least, an apology was in order. But just remember, two wrongs don't make a right.

Re:TROPICSURF OFFICIAL PUBLIC RESPONSE - 2007/03/20 08:25true, but TS should have responded better to customer complaints rather than ignoring them. we would have liked to have sorted this mess out in private with TS but TS REFUSED TO COMMUNICATE with us, so we brought our complaints to the web. only now, six MONTHS later, does TS admit that the a/c was useless and the generator was faulty and the boat was less than luxury, no apology, no 'sorry mate but if you come with us again we'll make sure next time is better',..... all we got was a curt 'we checked your complaints and have found them to be baseless' and then nothing but silence from TS. ross chose to communicate with only one customer, ignoring all others when the cost of email is free. 10 out of 10 customers wrote individually to express their complaints.
the only reason we got a reaction from TS is because 'TROPICSURF SUCKS' appears on every web search for TS. not very nice, but evidently effective at waking TS up.
we would love to hash it out over the phone, over email, whatever, except that TS does not communicate with us, ever. even though we paid for our last contact, an hour long phonecall from HK to Oz that resolved nothing, and left us with only silence from TS

Re:TROPICSURF.NET SUCKS - BEWARE OF CHEAP IMITATIONS - 2007/03/20 10:06In 2001 I did a maldives trip with what was surfbetter.com the predecessor to Tropicsurf. The trip was actually run by Ross Phillips. Speak as you find I had a really great time and surfed a variety of breaks and I was well looked after. I fully appreciate not all trips work out the way you expect or hope, I too have travelled half way around the world to surf at legendary breaks where the locals say "YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN HERE YESTERDAY MAN". These trips have also cost me an arm and a leg. That said, not to reply or fully investigate complaints is pretty poor. There's nothing worse than a bad experience on a holiday that you spend months saving up for and you get no recourse. I hope things work out for all concerned.
