Re:biarritz - 2007/01/16 19:12Portugal is definitely better than the Basque Coast during summer. Last july/august was flat flat flat here in France

Re:biarritz - 2007/01/17 02:15the problem by not driving to portugal is the car rentel. you have to be 21 to rent a car and me and my girlfriend are only 20. and we deffenetly want a car down there. is portugal the only good place in the mid summer? my girlfriend is a new surfer would she still be able to surf the waves in portugal?

Re:biarritz - 2007/01/17 05:43heres my two pence worth.... took the family to Biarritz last August, weather was beau, waves not huge but still good fun, crowds managable,-if you take a car you just drive further down, or up the coast. Bidart and Hendaye are less frantic than Biarritz, and only 15 mins down the road. Or head upwards to La Benne, always chilled there... As for the journey, we did St. Malo to Biarritz in 7.5 hrs, cost approx £35 in tolls, £80 in diesel,no probs! going back again this year in August again, I think its great.. cant comment on Portugal, but its on my "to do" list! Hope this waffle was of use..
