Surf parks? - 2006/08/08 02:35Has anyone surfed at a surf park? Just curious about what people think about them and want to hear the experiences and comparisions to the real thing. My family and I are planning a trip to Japan and interested in trying to surf in the Ocean Dome. Has anyone surfed in there?

Re:Surf parks? - 2006/08/08 04:22Hi, I've surfed a couple of them standing waves (flowriders), one in Japan, and the other in Norway. Theyre fun, but not like surfing and definatly not a replacment. Have fun anyway

Re:Surf parks? - 2006/08/17 03:24well, i have surfed a wave pool in a water park. we rent the pool after hours and they pump up to around shoulder high on me, and you get to choose left, right, or split peaks. the wave there was kinda mushy but it was still fun. RonJon Surf Park is about to open up in Orlando (only an hour drive from me) and have a pool for experts with up to 8 foot barrelling waves (and it's salt water), another pool for novice riders with 3-4 foot waves, and a standing wave. there's alota hype on this park, it'll take awhile to get in, there's a real long waiting list.

Re:Surf parks? - 2006/10/02 13:26gulfstergirl, thanks for the insight. must be nice to be able to have the pool to yourself. yeah, RonJon's is hyped up a bit, don't think i'll have an opportunity to experience that park.
anyways, just trying to get a feel on what people think about surf parks, and getting a mix of feelings towards them. which is helpful in deciding whether hitting up the surf park in japan will be a waste of time or if we don't, will we miss out?
