Re:beginner surf areas - 2011/03/23 06:45Hello Jamie, In US you have us over here on the Left Coast. You'll need a 3/2 wetsuit in Southern CA.- thicker in North CA., we have many beginner spots. Lots of spots from Huntington Beach to San Diego. Check them out here under surf spots.

Re:beginner surf areas - 2011/03/23 20:37Hello, In May is gonna be good time to visite the north of Tenerife, for example in Playa Jardín, Puerto de La Cruz. There is a beach of blacksand, very good to beginners, I think there is a surf-school too or rentaboard shop.

Re:beginner surf areas - 2011/04/13 03:31If you are in Europe, Northcoast Spain and SW Portugal is a good place to visit in May. I would do a camp if I were you, just to meet some other people who are into the same thing as you. A course is recommended if you're not very athletic.
Some of my friends who cross-over from skateboarding, skiing or snowboarding don't really need a week-long course, just someone there to guide them a bit. Away from danger if they are overbrave, or to take more risk if they are just being big pussies about the white water.
Beach breaks are good, foamboards are also good.
Have fun!
Cheers, Seeka
