Click here to see the profile of this user 		Re:the Caribbean - 2010/07/10 04:48 Lot of good information right on this site regarding your question.My experience with Rico was good.Surfed a place we called Rincon but it has been sometime ago.Overall friends have had good trips recently.Don't know about camps.Barbados my be another option but it is a ways down toward Venezuela.You may speak to Boosy about surf camps.

East coasts of Barbados, Hispaniola (DomRep) and Puerto Rico get smashed from winter storms at the north Atlantic. Every island is a bit different so the choice is not that easy. Also Dec-March is tourist season, be prepared for booked out places, crowds and highest prices.

There is a nice book out on the market, called The Stormrider guide - Central America and the Caribbean with a lot of information and nice pics.

I am living on the North Coast in the Dominican Republic close to Cabarete, where we get a lof of good N -NE winter swells. There are still many uncrowded spots and the surf gets really good.
You always find great people and culture on a trip to the Caribbean which is a nice bonus together with the surf and the weather.

If you have any questions about the dominican republic just let me know. We have some nice surf pics on our website.

Visited Cabarete....in 08 for with my wife and surfed every day.....was head high plus almost every day....thing is we really on surfed Encuentro and it was not for a lack of exploring

We did surf a place just outside of Cabarete

I know the rest of the coast has to be littered with waves....are there other waves you guys surf
