Re:Surf Trip in France - 2010/05/22 06:57A couple of years ago it was no problem to stay at the beaches of france, spain and portugal with a small tent or campervan even during peak season. Then every year it got more and more - open fires, muck hills, big motor homes blocking 4 parking lots, tents able to fit for 15 people constructed right at the parking, clotheslines populated with hankies and underwear, drunken abulics pissing at the wall right by the beachguard, brainless subjects demaging fragile dune protections, toilets and showers, lead to what we have now. Another factor is the expansion of tourist estabishment along the coast with golf clubs wasting land for 5 campgrounds. It is not possible to stay in france or spain at the beach unless You hide at extreme remote places or You come from November to March. A bit more freedom is still to be found at Portugal but it goes down rapidely.

Re:Surf Trip in France - 2010/05/24 06:29yeah we found a good canpsite down by lacanau for a good price for 3 weeks in september, but to stay in hossegor for 3 weeks is dramatically more expensive especially for september. Its consistency and nice tubes were after and i guess september is our best bet for that. unfortunately campsites closed at the end of september otherwise october would be less crowded....what will september crowds be like in the line up
