I went a few years ago in november, and freakily caught it dead flat. But I have friends who go regularly. The north of the island is where the main reefs are - base yourself in Coralejo, and work west. Generally I think the further west (along the north side of the island) you go, the bigger it gets. Though from my friend's experience it can be difficult finding a small-mid sized wave, its either big or flat. And they're all reefs. There's a beach break on the west side of the island called Cotillo which I've surfed but it tends to close out.
I reckon its a good place to go if you're fairly experienced, not so sure if you're still learning.

Re:Fuerteventura, Dec/Jan - 2009/11/11 06:02Fuerte gets frequent N/W swells during wintertime from cyclones crossing the north Atlantic, but nobody can give a forecast how it will get at Xmas. Just do like Rich13579 and look out at N/W side. If too big go around the edge, the east coast might get waves then, too.

Re:Fuerteventura, Dec/Jan - 2009/11/14 20:23It's rainy season there from Dec-Jan so some small showers may occure expecially at the N/W-N/E where the swell (and the clouds) come from but the sun should be out around 4-6h per day. Air and water temps range is 17-21°C, nights are cool. Enjoy Your trip and catch a wave!
