I need a board that's MEANT for airs! (CI "THE POD - 2008/10/23 15:39 Hey.... I have been researching Channel Island's "The Pod" specialty board for a while now, but haven't got any real-people reviews. I'm pretty dang sure THAT'S the board for me! But then I saw the price, I'm only 15 and can't get a job yet.

-I'm looking for a small (around 5'4"), VERY fast and responsive, 4-fin, Swallow tail kind of board.
--Something that will let me do an outrageous cutback, get pass the white wash wash, and AIR EASILY!! <--that's most important!
^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ (ALL IN SMALL TO OVERHEAD SURF) ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

So I guess my question is....
-Is "The Pod" ABSOLUTELY-POSITIVELY worth the $700?????
-Or is there a VERY similar board at a lower price?????

THANKS,
Spencer

Re:I need a board that's MEANT for airs! (CI "THE POD - 2008/10/27 03:37 mate, why dont you contact your local shaper. any good shaper will be able to make exactly you want and you can suggest changes in the making process!!!

but what it sounds like your saying (good cutback, fast as f**k and able to punt on) you want 'the perfect board' and im pretty sure if 'the pod' was exactly that, we would all be riding them.

the pod is a small, not-so-good-wave board (in my opinion) that performs in less than ideal conditions. dont get me wrong people can still rip good waves on them... look for videos of kevin olsen surfing his 4ft 'plonka' (bout 3in thick and 20+ wide) in heaving la gravier barrels!!! - personally id be reaching for the step up but kev is a sicker surfer than ill ever be!!!!

dunno im waffling now.... just find a local shaper and have them make you ur own version of a board along the same lines.... just without the logo and two thirds of the price, and, support local businesses in the process! im sure al merrick dont need ur 700 bucks, but your mates-brothers-mate who live 20mins away will graft for a few hours for it

Re:I need a board that's MEANT for airs! (CI "THE POD - 2008/10/27 23:33 No bigger than 5'6" x 20.5". Swallow tail is fine but stick with the Thruster fin set up or the MR 2 x 5" outboard plus 3" center. A quad is like a stiff twin fin and will not track as well so you will not be able to generate and hold as much speed. You need to be 15 to ride one of those things! You have got to have some local guy who makes clones in his garage for $450?
