Re:Daily SoCal Surf Report - 2008/04/08 06:45 Bah, this is too hard to keep up. Reports are gonna become more sporradic.

Fun Friday and Saturday. Smaller Sunday. Pretty much nothing today. Tues-Thurs looking fun again.

Re:Daily SoCal Surf Report - 2008/04/17 06:05 Saturday and Sunday were pretty blah.

Monday stayed flat.

Tuesday, size picked up but it was pretty crossed up and junky.

This morning was pretty fun. Chest-high+ and clean with moderate offshores and decent shape for windswell. It was pretty consistant. The best part was that there were only 4 surfers out at the point until 6:45.

I wish we'd get some more size, but I think the NPAC is done. Looks like nothing but local windswell from the NW, and not much happening down south either.

Re:Daily SoCal Surf Report - 2008/04/24 06:12 A few more bleh sessions last week.

Sunday 4/20 was killer at a little local spot I checked out. Rolled down the coast early and checked a few spots that were looking weak and drained out.

Pulled into the localized spot's parking lot and checked it out. Niiiice! OH peaks with steep throwing drops. Re-parked the car somewhere safer and hiked in. Paddled out with 3 other guys in the water. Caught a bunch of steeeep ones. Fun stuff.

Monday was smaller.

Tuesday was flat.

Today was a joke. On my morning surf check it was the flattest most drained-out I've ever seen the point near me.

Wind swell may kick up to some worthy size Thurs-Fri. Then next Tues-Wed looks to have more NW windswell.

I'm beginning to appreciate little windswell nuggs.

Re:Daily SoCal Surf Report - 2008/05/29 07:12 I can't even remember what happened since my last report, so I'll just talk about last week and this week:

Monday 5-19: Bleh, barely worth it. 2/10. Chunky and small. Really drained out low tide in the AM.

Tuesday 5-20: Smaller and not really worth it. WH at best.

Wednesday 5-21: Fuuuun! Nice little SSE rolling in with clean HH+ peaks and some barrels on the inside. Still really drained, but good, nonetheless. 5/10

Thursday 5-22: Big and blown out.

Friday 5-23: Where'd it go? Got real small real fast. Still caught some little nuggs. Maybe CH-SH. Pretty consistent windswell, but not big enough and still getting killed by the drained out tide. 4/10

Memorial-Day-Weekend: No real surf to speak of. Too bad for all you inland suckers. Mondday was a nice day to sit on the sand and chill, though. The rest of the weekend was cool and cloudy. Glad I didn't have to deal with any driving, gas prices, or traffic.

Tuesday 5-27: Still flat.

Wednesday 5-28: Same story. Nice weather, though.

(Forecast)
Thursday: Flat
Friday: Semi-Flat
Saturday: Fun down south, maybe something up here. Not much either way.
Sunday: Back to flat.
Monday: Maybe some NW windswell, finally.

Re:Daily SoCal Surf Report - 2008/06/17 01:59 Sunday was fun. Nice clean SW rolling through some spots north of LA. The camera at one of my favorite spots died, and the crowd died with it. Normally it would've been 50+ surfers with a working camera. I rolled up late (11AM) and was pleased to find a crowd of just 10--just like the pre-camera days. Hooray! Caught a few rides and tried to figure out an older board and some new fins.

Nice weather. I was able to skin it and not freeze my nuts off like in May. Everybody else was in a wetsuit, but I even bodysurfed without rubber. It helped that the wind was calm.

06-15
Location: L-handed Point Break
Size: CH+ w/occ HH sets.
Period: Long
Direction: SW
Surface: Glassy.

Small crowd, but too much tide. Should've gone earlier, but probably had more fun cooking up a nice breakfast and taking it easy instead.

06-16
Location: R-handed point break.
Size: WH-CH
Period: Long
Direction: SW
Surface: Kinda junky.

Not really worth it.

Busy, but awesome for an afternoon session. Warm blue water, clean surf, and best of all, went and chilled up on the pier at sunset with a couple of happy hour fat tires and watched a sweet little beachy chuck spitting barrels.

Saturday, 6-21
Location: Messy Reef Break down south.
Size: WH
Period: Long
Direction: SW
Surface: Semi-blown.
Rating: 2
Busy, tiny, blown out. Bleh. Swell's over. Warm water though. Fun to be out surfing with family.

Sunday, 6-22
Location: Points North
Size: WH

Bleh.

Monday, 6-23
Location: R-hand point.
Size: WH+
Period: Bleh
Direction: Bleh
Surface: Chunky
Rating: 0 - Didn't surf.
Bleh +. If it hadn't been good for the past 2 weeks I might consider paddling out tomorrow.

Next little swell due next weekend, but I know a place that won't be crowded... Spinning spitting barrels, Warm blue water, BBQ on the beach afterward... mmmm... can't wait!
