Surfing with Multiple Sclerosis - 2008/03/22 03:23Does anyone here surf with ms? I've got a line on a beach house in Jaco, but I haven't surfed years. I'm still fully mobile, but shaky. I should add that heat makes things worse.
Worth the trouble?

Re:Surfing with Multiple Sclerosis - 2008/03/22 05:04Good on ya mate if you can still do it go for it! My buddy's girl friend got MS in her late twenties probally due to the huge amounts (kilos) of blow she consumed ... she was a mule between Florida and LA. She now is in a wheel chair and has even tried rattle snake venom treatment from Mexico. God Bless and Good Luck my friend.

Re:Surfing with Multiple Sclerosis - 2008/03/23 03:53Agree with the above post, take preventitive measures 1st.
But it is definately worth the trouble!
Jaco may not be the best break, as it closes out frequently.
Just down the road is Esterillos oeste, usually bigger and less close outs. Mellow place, better vibe than Jaco for surfing.
Get checked out and get back in the water, have fun and be safe!

Re:Surfing with Multiple Sclerosis - 2008/04/08 00:39Thanks, everyone. I'll try the physical therapy first. After which, Esterillos oeste. I've started teaching my daughter how to skateboard, so I think that's helping. It's weird, though, it's almost like I'm starting from scratch myself.
Too bad about your buddy's girlfriend. Life in a wheelchair has to be rough.
