Re:Are you surfing green? - 2007/12/16 10:10 Chriz- I think you were closer with China being first, but America is a close second (or maybe that is just our propaganda machine at work). As an American I am partial to my country, but we do have a lot to learn. You Germans have got your shit together on the eco friendly life. I think we can all learn a little something form a couple of your major cities. You are also correct about buying products locally. Not only do you boost your own economy, but you cut the emissions that would be used to transport your products. As for smokin’ out… to each there own.

With all of that said, has anyone got any new green surf inputs for products they have seen or used?

Re:Are you surfing green? - 2007/12/18 03:19 Well, kennysurf, we don`t want to get rid of the US, we know lots of people there an they are friends. What we want is the US Government thinking "smaller". All the unneccessary wars only to get that oil to blow it thru the exhausts. And You can not be serious to say "No I surf water" by looking at what`s going on in China. Things definately have to change. Maybe the kids of 2050 then can surf between Dolphins and Turtles, too.

And waterman_75, mahalo for the input on this new materials, I`ll try to get a board with environment-friendly stuff next time - if possible. May the hawaiian waters stay crystal clear forever.

Re:Are you surfing green? - 2008/01/12 14:51 I picked up my first green board this week and took it out to Makaha / Po Kia Bay on a just overhead day and loved it. The Biofoam is definately stonger and a little heavyer than traditional foam. I am taking it out again Saturday, but I could not ask more of a new board.

Re:Are you surfing green? - 2008/01/13 22:15 this is a great thread. i would add something about the surf industry that really bothers me. I worked in a surf retail store this year, and was amazed to find that every article of clothing comes individually wrapped in plastic! Each t-shirt, pair of jeans, pair of trunks etc, comes in its own plastic sleeve...even when its all one order coming from one company in one box!
Thats all plastic wasted coming to one store..now multiply by the number of surf shops and it would be a staggering amount of pointless plastic.
It really bothered me because the surf industry is allegedly one that understands the importance of preserving our environment. So that sweet new hoodie, or pair of trunks no longer seems that cool to me at all.
