Need a few info about the surf conditions (size wind and frequent swell) at that tim. Where to go North or south island, east or west ... I'm goinng in france for 2 months and would'nt like to carry my board (or can I let it during 2 months in a place and get it back while comming back). Otherwise, Is't easy to buy a board and sell it when leaving... Some idea ? ... See yu

Re:surf conditions - 2007/11/22 11:00You should be able to buy a surfboard with relative ease in NZ. Auckland (I assume that you'll be there) has a fairly large surfing community and surf shops are common. My knowledge of NZ surf shops are too old to help you (sorry). You'll need to ask around when you get there.
There is a place on the NorthShore call XTsea but I cannot remember where is it. Another place is call Surf Dive Ski at K' road near Newton.
In Auckland, the place with the most consistant surf is Piha on the west coast. BE CAREFUL. Surf there is big, bad, nasty with pointy rocks ... MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED THERE SURFING ... I nearly did.
If you head north of Auckland pass Takapuna beach you get the Pacific side. Nice waves when there are some but its not consistant. Less dangerous and more relaxing.
RAGLAN - Waikato
This is by far the beach. Go to the point. There is only 1. Its not hard to find. Just follow the only road there and you'll see it as you go pass it.
The waves breaks there and go on for about 500m (sometimes more) even when its only a 3ft face. It goes from the point to the inner bay. Best to have a driver waiting for you at the inner bay so you can get out of the water ... into the car and drive back to the point for another wave.
