Re:10.000 ! - 2007/09/25 10:31 10,000 registered but how many are actively participating ?

Sorry to sound like an A-hole.

Re:10.000 ! - 2007/09/25 16:48 You're right. From the surfers list, there are (only) 7907 registered (ie that really activated their account). So 2.093 more and we will really be 10.000 on this community

Re:10.000 ! - 2007/09/25 18:17 still, its a good question - since the actual logged-in users on the site is rarely above 15-20, and usually nearer 8-10... I guess people come and go since this is an informational site with no clear service to encourage people to come back day after day.... (like a forecast site).

Suggestions always welcome of how we could make this a more useful community !!!

Re:10.000 ! - 2007/09/26 11:41 I guess that there isn't much you can do unless the people/members participate. Personally, I cannot think of any major features to add. The things available on the site are of high standard as is.

The best part is the "surf atlas" but people like us has to punch in the info especially on the Google map and swell vs time of year.

But if someone wants to nit pick on silly little things ... here are some;

1. Being able to port the wannasurf profile to Facebook or Myspace or etc ... but this is pretty far out and I assume hard.

2. Add a page for "how to ...".

Example:

"How to make your own surfboard"
"Where to buy/steal your raw surfboard making things"
"How to make surf wax"
"Where to buy/steal your surf wax making things"
"How to surf for beginners"
... etc

3. Where to buy surf boards and surf supply list (especially for odd places like Angola or Guam or Tofino Canada).

4. Where to stay when you are in .... (especially for the odd places like Somalia or Oman or Puerto Rico)

5. New (or just plain existing) products related to surfing news and review.

The problem with all these suggestions is that it takes time to design and install. And more time is required by us members to add the information. Which leads us back to the participation levels.

It's a damn circular argument!
