Orange County & L.A - 2007/08/24 06:59 Hi all
Im a surfer from Israel and around mid Sep I will be coming to LA to meet up with a dear friend and of course, surf! I have several issues on my mind.
1-Due to the high costs of bringing a board from here, how much does a new board cost? Im talking about a nice 6' or 6'1 AL merick or LOST. Dont wanna get ripped off...
2-I read that the water temp should be warm at that time..but what exactly are we talking about? whats the water temp?
3-I would like to try Trestles. How is it (power, length, localism)?
4-Apart Trestles and Huntington, any other worthy spots? I will be staying at my friends, Oragne county, so any spot near the area where he leaves will be cool
THANK YOU all...see, from what I know LA has so much to offer, I dont know where to begin...

Re:Orange County & L.A - 2007/08/24 08:39 1. if you're looking at either of those you will be spending 5-600.00 u.s. there are a million shops in the area that sell a million different quality shapes.

2. the water is pretty nice at 67-72f depending where you go. i haven't used a wetsuit since june.

3. trestles is great if a little crowded. a bit crumbly, but always rippable and there are alot of peaks to choose from.

4. there are so many spots from o.c. up to ventura. i would love to tell you about them, but i still want to surf them. the wannasurf atlas does a great job of detailing them though.
besides, the best part of the journey is discovery so enjoy and we'll see you in the lineup

Re:Orange County & L.A - 2007/08/24 16:34 Thanks for the reply man
1. Apart Lost & Merrick, could you reccomand on onother company that produces a good quality boards?
2. I'm with you on the discovering part of the trip, but somehow I get the feeling everything is so big and each spot will be so far of from one another....I surfed Sri Lanka & Brazil in the past and searching for good spots was awesome, but when it comes to the US, I dk, it feels different.

Re:Orange County & L.A - 2007/08/27 12:38 If you are staying in Orange County I would suggest also Salt Creek for short board and Churches, close to Trestle.
Check the forecast with wawewatch.com before deciding where to go. Temperature now is great. no wetsuit needed.
Cheers.
