Re:Go girl - 2007/07/07 13:02OH MY GOD THis is AWESOME adviice. YES "committing" a.k.a. chickening out is sort of a stumbling block for me. Makes so much sense about arching the back and having control once I pop up. That advice is something i am for sure gonna keep in mind and i KNOW its gonna help me immensely! I have a pretty big fear for pearling, so I tend to, like someone said, be too far back on the board and cant get enough speed, so the wave goes right under me, cause of the drag from the tail being weighed down.
I get the stuff about the keel of a boat, keeping it in trim and all that.
So yesterday I tried what the other dude said about making sure I didn't paddle too far out, as most beginers do, and he was absolutely right, I was paddling way too far out. Also, I tried moving up on the board and centering myself more, even though I was worried about going over the falls and all that, but it was much more effective for me to move up and center myself than to be dragging the tail down, out of fear like I had been. I guess I just gotta get over those fears. But this advice is really great.
Tomorrow, Im going to Heaven's for a tutoring session from a pro, so I'll let you guys know how that goes. Everything here makes so much sense and I really appreciate it...Thanx guys, ttyl! Mwah!
