Re:Absolute Beginner - 2007/06/22 04:55I am new as well, I took everyones advice and went with a soft-top board (like Sunkissed recommends) My first few times I used a rental Longboard and now I am still using a 9foot soft-top board so I dont get beat up as much. As I am reading and learning and taking everyones advice - The longer and thicker the board the easier and more fun you will have learning... Thats what I am usning and eventually I will move to a shorter board. Best of luck to you!!

Re:Absolute Beginner - 2007/06/22 16:27hmm.. buying one not always a good idea. but you can always sell it. what i did was started with a 7ft board (i was like 10 years old and short) and i slowly went down. it takes time and patience best of luck! respect everyone in the water surf it up

Re:Absolute Beginner - 2007/06/27 21:36dude if you're committed then that board should be fine.
i learned on a 7'0 fun. I hated softtops because they were big and bulky. my transition to short wasn't bad either.
you just gotta get out there as much as you can and you'll start to see an improvement. also train outside the water, that makes a big difference
have fun bro
