Re:When to go in Portugal? - 2007/06/29 18:42Hi Simon,
August is usually the worst surfing month in Portugal due to the lack of swell and strong North winds, altough is very good for spending some time on the beach.
Even so, is worth the trip. Despite no big swells, there's a lot of days with 1 to 3 feet waves.
Best sugestion: Peniche (www.penichesurfcamp.com), or Southern Portugal like Sagres (www.thesurfexperience.de).

Re:When to go in Portugal? - 2007/06/30 19:32Hi Simon,
I am a Portuguese Surfer, and agree partially with Thunder Cat.
August, is not the best month for Surfing.... but its definetely not the worst... for starters its the peak of Summer so the water temp. is at its best and the beaches are packed with BABES! (I reckon thats a plus).
The Wind hazards can blow... but normally there is at least a good surfing Swell during August. (Normally it arrives in the End of August). But you really never know and you cant predict when its goin to arrive. Its just a matter of luck... some years you get good waves in August but other years its dead flat !
