Re:West Coast vs. East Coast - 2007/05/10 12:36 I'd probably have to agree to an extent with Aloha Yall...
I've seen pics of guys surfing in FL in absolute TRASH, that I wouldn't even go out in. Then again, I've seen some pics of really, really sweet barrels coming out as well. Pay your dime and take your chances...

Re:West Coast vs. East Coast - 2007/06/27 21:42 East Coast has it's moments, but c'mon. The Atlantic is so much smaller the the Pacific. Pacific gets better swell because it is so large and it gives things a chance to truly build. Bigger storm systems+longer time to grow+larger ocean+ no steep shelf=BETTER WAVES, but the key word here is consistency. West Coast is far more frequent then the east coast for that whole list of variables.

East coast has the continental shelf to contend with too. Fortunately, hurricanes are born with in bounds so it can build to some good conditions. Without a good low pressure system, the east coast is realy flat(by west coast standards), but as stated, it forces you to adapt and learn multiple conditions.

Just my $.02

Either way, it is fun to be out.
It isn't about the years in your life, but the life in your years.
