Click here to see the profile of this user 		Where to around Sept / Oct 2007? - 2007/04/01 13:57 My lady (surfer too) and I usually hit the road to the surf somewhere once per year. This year we are locked into the Sept / Oct period. Living in New Zealand, everywhere is far away, so actual destination isn't a real problem. The only requirements are frequent surf and warm water (or warm weather atleast). As a couple of doddery old codgers we don't have to prove anything to anyone. I don't mind a bit of size but my lady is happy around the head-high mark, happy too with a chardonay close to a pool and good (need not be expensive) food.
That sound like too much to ask for?
We've been to a lot of places and can't for the life of me find anywhere new that tickles my fancy.
So where have you been around Sept/Oct that delivers the goods?
Love to get a fresh take on it.
And NO, it's not that flash in New Zealand at that time of the year.

Click here to see the profile of this user 		Re:Where to around Sept / Oct 2007? - 2007/04/02 14:18 well its not the most exotic of all places but ny/nj/nc usa area usuaully gets inundated with nice fall swells and hurricanes at times. the water is warm and the air is still nice. the summer crowds are gone too. and it also gives you a chance to see NYC if you never have! just an idea, its probably not a trip most people would consider but if your really looking for soemthing different

The dollar exchange ruled out that neck of the woods but with the NZD not doing too bad at the moment ,I'll check it out. Actually have some contacts there so I'll hit Google Earth and do some trolling.

I would say central america, but its the rainy season in sept/oct (still warm water) and they get a lot of swell during those months. Can be hit or miss. But if New York is a little out of the way then maybe rest of the americas is too. what about somewhere in asia. thats probably where you have already been and would probably give you a wider swell window too. Then you have Europe. The euro is strong and getting stronger. I would recomend the canary islands or maybe somewhere in Africa(northern africa, its more open to large swells from the north atlantic) but it also has colder water. But not too cold.

But if you want warm water close to home go to where you have already been (probably) Go to south asia. Hell yeah. I still havent been but there are a lot of places that recieve southern hemi swells. You would probably know better being from that part of the world.

Let me know where you go I am always looking for some good surf in sept/oct.
