Its a relative (not absolute) scale, so as the community develops the most active posters will come to the higher levels... whilst the forum is not much used, relatively small numbers of posts will allow users to have 'high' status...

We are trying to combine it with the more general 'karma' system, which is a better indicator of a users contribution to the community as a whole (points are awarded for inviting friends (when they sign up), and are given by other users when they think your contributions are useful... again this is a bit limited at the moment, but should be extended to be on the Session Logas and Trip Blogs soon.
