Re:best spot to surf in portugal and scotland in May - 2007/02/02 23:24 Best spots for Scotland are Thurso east and S**t pipe. Also Brims Ness is good. Botha re quality reef breaks and can be quite quiet during the week but busyish at weekends. Very friendly atmosphere at both.

Cheers

Re:best spot to surf in portugal and scotland in M - 2007/02/04 05:57 It depends what do you want. In example, the best spots of portugal are in Ericeira like Coxos, and Peniche, Supertubos. But there are much more, see the atlas.

Re:best spot to surf in portugal and scotland in M - 2007/02/05 20:03 I would recommend Thurso also. I was there in November and it was freaking cold. I too am from Oz (gold coast) so I am not so used to the cold water. I have always wanted to surf there as I have the book "surfing Europe" which I use to select spots to go to. I usually travel with my wife and don't have all the time in the world to wait for waves. When I saw Thurso it looked exactly the same as in that book. I was stoked.

Portugal is pretty awessome also. Besides the spots mentioned by Juanma for Portugal (Peniche and Feguira Da Foz are awesome spots), I really recommend going to the Algarve. That place is good because there are so many coves and bays etc that you can usually find a protected spot (or even better off shore). I remember a spot called Arrifana, which we scored some good waves at.

I'll actually be in Portugal in April, Spain in May and France in June. If you see a big white mercedes camper parked up somewhere, come and say G'Day.

in 3 weeks, we leave the U.K. (thank god, it's time to go) and head to Morocco. Then over 3-4 months we head north along the Atlantic Coast, then spend another 3-2 months (6 months total)travelling through eastern Europe.

Can't wait.

Re:best spot to surf in portugal and scotland in M - 2007/02/10 11:07 hey thanks for that. i would really like to surf stuff that has a bit of power. i'm currently living in adelaide so there isnt really much strength to the surf here. my recent trip to fiji and the goldie really got the bloody pumpin for the need of having good sized waves that have some punch to them. so the type of surf i dont want are fat lumpy beach break shite. so somethign that holds up and has some punch behind it would be fantastic. thanks for the info.
