What do you prefer? And why?
Or do you ride both.

Re:longboarding vs shortboarding - 2007/01/23 04:42 definitly LONGBOARDING! why? because its the only way to become one with the wave, and also is the only way to know how a wave really flows, plus MORE waves for us old guys.

Dont get me wrong, i think what some guys do on shortboards is just amazing.

Re:longboarding vs shortboarding - 2007/01/23 12:16 i do both, but im torn on which i like more. I mostly have longboarded, but I'm a very progressive longboarder.. so that is very akin to shortboarding. I will also take out a shortboard and.. it feels just the same, just easier to do everything. I will probably have to lean to longboarding, however, because you can do everything a shortboarder can... and then some. Nothing can really beat a really long noseride.

Re:longboarding vs shortboarding - 2007/01/23 15:50 I ride both! When the waves are more than one meter, I used to prefer shortboard. If less, Long bpard

Re:longboarding vs shortboarding - 2007/01/23 16:16 depends a bit on the wave as well... if its a fat rolling wave then a long board can be fun, but if the wave has some power then I'd rather go shorter. I always feel when on a longboard that I am a bit 'cheating' since its so damn easy. I'm not dissing longboarding as such, its just that its easy to paddel out, easy to catch a wave and easy to stand there... only turning is 'hard' so most longboarders tend to just bumble along a wave doing lazyman swoops like whales at play...- if you want to rip some turns, then you should be on a shorter board anyways....

Still, as I get older and less fit... so the boards will inevitably get longer.

Re:longboarding vs shortboarding - 2007/01/24 00:33 I do both. Which one I choose depends on my mood. If I am feeling chill then I will be on a long board, if I am a ball of energy then it's all about the short. For me as long as I am in the water I am digging it.It's all fun.
