A new real-time surf report app I developed - 2011/09/26 16:27Hi,
I surf in a beach with no surfcam installed in it. The closest surfcam is 10km away and it's crappy. So I can't ever tell whether there is a good surf or not in my home beach. I need to actually drive there. Many times for nothing but for the waste of fuel and time. Many times I don't go and later sorry for the surf I missed.
However, even if there was a surfcam on my beach I'm not sure it would have been enough. Surfcams are not perfect. They need to be installed, maintained, pointed at the right direction and broadcast a clear image. They usualy don't do any of that. In the best case, they provide a clue.
SwellPhone goal is to change that. Every one of us surfers hanging around with a smartphone in his pocket is a small surfcam by himself. All we need to do is to point the camera at the surf, and take a photo -- or click Record for a couple of seconds. And then report that image or video to the web so other surfers can see what's going on.
SwellPhone is just that. It's a mobile app from which you can take a video or photo of the surf spot, and submit it to the site where other surfers can view the report and make a better decision regarding when & where to go surfing. It's so easy to use and recognize the surf spot you're reporting from using the device GPS.
If we all start using SwellPhone, we can have a reliable and comprehensive source for real-time surf reports like never before! The power is in YOUR hands. Hope you'll use it.
Cheers, Shahar

Re:A new real-time surf report app I developed - 2012/05/24 19:09I have an Al Merrick Ksmall tuflite board for sale in Chile. It's a 6'2 x 19 3/8 x 2 1/4
Great board for small and overhead conditions, fast and loose. Really good board to travel with as epoxy can take the odd knock from bus journeys and flights.
There are a couple of dings, one on the rail and one on the tail. Both repaired and water tight. Have to say neither dings were repaired professionally as surf shops etc were scarce at the time.
Board comes with standard M5 FCS fins but no leash or bag (bags sell for around $25 CP in most local surf shops)
Really hard to find decent second hand boards in Chile especially epoxy. I've done the legwork on a previous trip and ended up having to buy brand new from Santiago. Retail price for this board new is £515 ex vat. I'm selling it for £325 or $250,000 CP
Really sad to see this one go but simply run out of money. Contact asap if interested:
Situated in Region V and willing to meet in local area - and maybe even Santiago at a push. Really weird stuff going on, I've been trying to add a couple of awesome spots in the Black Sea, but it looks like Wannasurf doesn't want to add them. WTF? Wannasurf admins - reply to this topic, what's up.
