Re:best place and best board to use - 2010/12/24 21:24 If you are a beginner and are in an area that has just an occasional slow swell a longboard would be choice (8'6"-10'), However if you are in an area that gets a pretty quick break or a sandbar beach break then a fun shape would be better suited (7'-8'6"). The other variable is your height and weight, if you are average height and healthy weight you can usually start with a smaller board. Hope this helps and good luck!

What about summer months.. Apr-June/July. What are good places to LEARN surfing during this time?

Re:best place and best board to use - 2012/04/13 03:00 Liquid Peace offered good advice, some place warm w/ lots of choices for renting boards and places to surf. For December & January, keep it simple. Go to places that are warm (especially if you do not have or have worn a wetsuit) and that have SLOW breaking waves. Slow breaking waves mean that you should have a board that tends to be a bit longer, say longer than 7 feet. Go to surf breaks that are known to be better for learning, not Pipeline, Sunset, Waimea...ect if in Hawaii.
Take your time, look at break descriptions listed here and sunny destinations w/ warm water.
Lastly, have fun!

Re:Best place to surf for beginner in December - 2012/05/28 07:57 Hello,
Canarias is great especially in December. It is the best season with beginner and pro spots. Look for Fuerteventura. I stayed in Corralejo.

I checked your profile and you can find cheap flight with low cost or spanish air companies from any european contry. There are very good surf schools and awesome landscape.

Have fun
