wave types, declarations? - 2011/08/31 16:21hi there
im new to surfing so i need some help can anyone maybe explain the diffrent types of waves to me? like..for example: Reef-rocky, Point-break, Beach-break..etc

Re:wave types, declarations? - 2011/09/01 22:47First - it's not the wave type You're questioning but the coastral characteristics. As a beginner You should only look for "Beach Break" that normally means easy access and safe for beginners, or "Sand Bottom" spots to give You a more soft landing when touching the ground. Then, while improving Your skills, the other types define by themselves.

Re:wave types, declarations? - 2011/09/04 03:59You can also add pointbreak to that if it is not too rocky, and there is a nice channel to paddle out in. Beach breaks can actually be dangerous in larger surf, since it is ususally shallower.
