Info on Dick Brewer 1970's Board - 2010/12/31 01:39What's going on, got a question to see if anyone out there knows anything or has any info on a board I recently picked up off craigslist
done some research and this is all I found out; Dick Brewer "w.a.v.e" aluminum hollow core with fiberglass deck w/ recessed hexagon logo, original multi colored single fin w/ fin box. I didnt think fin boxes were out that early on boards? either way its a cool board i bought for $20 and wanna see if i should repair it and mount it on the wall or see if i can fix her up and get some $ for it.. either way its a cool board just didnt know if anyone knew more about them. thanks

Re:Info on Dick Brewer 1970's Board - 2011/01/04 14:12I remember when those came out in the 70's.Mike Purpus was their best rider for a while[they were paying him] They were kinda weird to ride due to the air inside them. They were also prone to leaking..BADLY..hence the little star on the nose to drain out the water. You could paddle out with a nice light board ,and then drag in a 40 LB beast a few hrs later.Fin boxes were standard in the 70's/early 80's,you could change fins for different conditions/breaks.Until twins and thrusters came along, then things changed. I doubt you have a "Treasure" ,but clean it up and hang it on your wall.Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.Perhaps even ride it,watch for it getting heavy...it's leaking.
