Next trip to Costa Rica - 2010/01/11 07:52Heading to Costa Rica around the end of March/beginning of April. When I went last year it was in the North. Stayed at Witch's Rock Surf Camp. Great by the way. Read my trip about it. This time I'm going to the Central part. Playa Hermosa/Jaco area. Any advice on a surf camp type place to stay there? I like the idea of, get on the bus or boat and they take you to the best surf that day. Also understand there is more night life in the central area. Any advice on the area will be appreciated and maybe I'll see some of you down there. Later

Re:Next trip to Costa Rica - 2010/01/13 08:25Can't beat Witch's Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo. Look them up on the internet and check out their packages. Fly in on Saturday, they pick you up for free. Week days you have to pay. Pick out one of their boards or rent one from vendors close by. They take you to the best spots. Drink, eat and relax the rest of the time and a couple night clubs for Friday and Saturday night. I may go back there in March or April if I can't get something going in Central Costa Rica. Go to my profile under Surf Trips and read my summary of the time I had their last September. Good luck

Re:Next trip to Costa Rica - 2010/01/14 04:09Not a big fan of the Jaco area, I like the North the best, in particular, Avellanas & Playa Grande.
Have yet to hit the South, Pavones looks awesome!

Re:Next trip to Costa Rica - 2010/01/15 06:41Haven't been South yet either. Being lazy it seems like a lot of traveling to get there. I'm leaning back toward the North again myself.

Re:Next trip to Costa Rica - 2010/01/17 05:24Jaco was my first experience of Costa Rica so I'm probably a bit biased but I loved it. Surf wise its no Witches but its a cool place, early morning / evenings are the go for some glassy waves. Night life is good with plenty of bars, table football and Pool in Rioasis with plenty of Imperials is a great way to finish the day, make sure you check out Caliches Wisbone as well for the best food in the area with surf vids on all day.
Only treked over to Hermosa once and it was not epic but you could tell it was a lot more powerful than Jaco.
I would recommend the Mal Pais / Santa Teresa area as well, beautiful area and great waves.
Wherever you end up, enjoy
Pura Vida!
