How to keep your stuff safe while surfing? - 2009/11/03 04:23 If your surfing by yourself in a different country. How do you keep your stuff safe? Like your money, or anyother things you don't want stolen?
I heard you need to bury your sandals in the sand.
Is there a water proof leash with a compartment?Or do you have to wear a fanny pack like a douche?

If this is not possible leave them in the car (not visible) and take the key with You in a leash or wetsuit pocket.

Re:How to keep your stuff safe while surfing? - 2009/11/04 05:10 This was my beach-wear, until they fell apart: My daughters childhood, thread bare, ABC beach towel - torn green shorts - never washed, blood stained (badge of honour) t-shirt and ratty black & green sweater full of holes. On the feet, blown out sneakers full of sand with no laces and holes on the bottom!

My surf transport was a rusted Navy Blue 1989 Buick Le Sabre with one of the back windows broken out (where I smashed it with a brick after locking the keys inside) it finally got crushed by a garbage dump truck backing out of an alley. Never had a problem! LOL

PS Of course Micki wore a tux to the beach and drove a MBZ.

Re:How to keep your stuff safe while surfing? - 2009/11/04 06:40 Taking no valuable to the beach, or leaving them out of sight locked in the car is probably the best advice. My only problem is what to do with the car key, in particular if it's a rental. Some of the keys with electronics in them you can take apart, and take only the metal / plastic piece with you in the water. But if doesn't come apart, I have yet to find a good solution, as no pouch or pocket seems to be really totally waterproof, and salt water wrecks the electronics in no time. I had that happening to me last summer in Hawaii, and got stuck with over $200 for replacing the key, plus all the hassle of having a replacement key delivered. If anyone has a good solution to this problem, I'd love to hear about it!

Now i'm not promoting a product and a determined thief will probably still get inside, but if you lock it under your car, or somewhere awkward, like in the middle of your roofracks i reckon you'll be right
