Re:HELP ME FIX MY BOARD! PLEASE!!! - 2009/07/12 00:51 Alright first off I wanna thank everyone for posting in here to give me some help I really appreciate it! Its for sure given me a some helpful info on what im looking for. It sounds a little more complicated than I thought it would be however...which brings me to a side question. The board has a boxed fin set up in the middle and the 2 side fins are glassed in (well one was lol). So maybe the easiest would be to cut off the other fin and fix them both smooth and ride single fin? its a 6'8 board do you think it would ride ok? this is just a thought I'm not abandoning glassing the one fin just wanted some opinions.

And as for people asking what the board looks like I posted a link to a video of it on the first post.

Re:HELP ME FIX MY BOARD! PLEASE!!! - 2009/07/12 15:11 Yo Kewalos you never advised going to a marine store but you did suggest solar resin which i have not seen in marine stores. If you use some kind of special solar resin you should have said so.Chill out. I am not attacking anyone just sharing an opinion.I have done many fin repairs in my time and never had a problem until i used solar resin.Yes it was from a tube and i added catalyst and still didn't hold up. I f you would have said there is a better grade of solar resin available and you can get it in a marine shop or wherever there wouldn't be a problem but you didn't.You just advised solar resin and as far as i know it comes in a tube and is sold in surf shops.I don't think $15.00 is a rip off for Resin,Cloth, hardner, sand paper, mixing cups and a tube of sun cure.If i'm not mistaken i said your instructions were detailed and good except for the solar resin on a fin but you didn't specify a special kind of solar resin. The kind i use doesn't hold up for major repair.

Re:HELP ME FIX MY BOARD! PLEASE!!! - 2009/07/12 15:36 Yes Jimmy you can ride the board as a single fin but you would need a bigger center fin and you should level off the areas where the other fins were. If you don't have a center fin maybe should just get a ding repair man and pay him 50bucks to do the job right.

Re:HELP ME FIX MY BOARD! PLEASE!!! - 2009/07/12 18:00 hey GMC, make sure you talk to someone who's in-the-know before you try to turn your pig into a single fin. the fin shape, size and postion will have to work with your board's rocker, tail and rails. thruster shapers generally don't understand single fin design but someone who knows single fins will know what will work for you. in any case it's always good to experiment with shapes, fins and repairs though, you maybe better-off saving the board as it is for a flat spell and sacraficing it to Huey...

hmm, the kind of photosensitive goos you can get in small quantities from surf shops are very good for a quick fix to seal a ding but only if their chemistry matches that of your board's and you must prepare the area properly. they're not good for filling-in craters nor for making pretty repairs and they're definately not good for attaching fins by themselves - without the matching fibre reinforcement, nothing will work in any stress location for any longer than it takes to paddle-out, take-off and turn.
