Re:Pope Bisect - 2009/03/21 23:49 3 boards cuz 1st carbonfiber failed beyond repair, ,2nd epoxy lost by shipper(Pope and Greyhound), now 3rd arriving as we speak. Disadvantages alredy discussed, advantages, bring it anywhere, cab, elevator, hotel room, small plane, strap on shoulder and two hands free to carry other items. That's it.If they ever work out the clamp/alignment pin dilemma, it could be a no brainer. As far as no cost to pack it on a plane, forget that argument cuz all carriers are now charging for oversize and they don't care what's in the bag. Good luck. See you in the lineup.

Re:Pope Bisect - 2009/03/22 19:32 I would just like to finish my blog about the POPE BISECT people. My third WR bisect just arrivedmy original was blue/white deck, I open the invoice sleeve and it states "WR bisect AQUA GREEN"!!!! . The point is, there is no real communication in their customer service department. Is that all they had(and who really knows) or they are trying to dump unwanted inventory in difficult times? The customer was/is never asked if a change is OK, they just send whatever they have or they never really looked as to what was returned. Read blogs in "Stand Up Zone", if you think my experience is unique.

Re:Pope Bisect - 2009/04/02 02:45 Sorry I missed this thread, only reading it now. Unfortunate to read people having such trouble with what appears to be a very good concept. I didn't by a bisect but I did met a bloke of the beach over the winter who was riding one. He didn't suffer any of the aforementioned problems and considered it the best board in his quiver. he said the shape worked well for him and no failures of components.
It makes me wonder if a shortboard variant would be more robust, or wether the whole thing is purely down to luck of the purchase.
Regards
Guy

Re:Pope Bisect - 2009/04/07 07:47 Some minor design changes have been made in the clamping mechanism and seems to have a better fit and feel to it. Certainly the shorter the board, the less leverage there is on the union. Good luck.

Re:Pope Bisect - 2009/04/17 09:23 Healthvet,

I accosted you in the airport as we both arrived in Cabo a couple of weeks ago and inquired about the Pope Bi-sect under your arm. Thanks for the information and taking the time. I finally got around to registering on wannasurf and read your posts. Also, I enjoyed the sessions at "Old Man's". You surf well and the Bi-sect is a good looking board. I'm still on the fence about purchasing one myself because I ride a short board most of the time, but it would have been perfect on this trip. One of these years I'll look you up in Montauk for some hurricane surf. If you're ever in the SF Bay Area it would be a privilege to show you the local breaks. Be well. Dick Gregory[img size=150]
